FROM CHAIRMAN CHUCK TYSON

Chairman Chuck Tyson
Chuck Tyson, Chairman
Dear Friends:

It is a great time to be a Republican in Craven County. Things are looking up for us in the upcoming elections and we anticipate winning elections and bringing back conservatives principles to our federal, state and local governments.

On behalf of the Craven County Republican Party, I want to welcome you to our website and encourage you to return often for information concerning our party. Through this website we intend to provide you with the tools to become a more active and effective Republican, including ways you can help register new voters, organize effective "Get-Out-the Vote" programs and help with raising funds.
The Republican Party has long stood for the notion that the most effective government is that which governs least, that taxes must be fair and spent wisely, and that life and family are our most cherished resource. These basic truths, which are coming under attack by our leaders in Raleigh and Washington, DC, must be defended. As your chairman, I intend to stand with these conservative principles as we work together to expand our party and assure Republican victories in the future.

Again, I am excited and pleased that you have visited our website. Together we can do great things to help move our county, state and nation forward!

Please feel free to call me anytime.

Regards,
Chuck Tyson

"On June 26th, the House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (H.R.2454), also known as the Waxman-Markey bill, by a vote of 219-212. This bill would create a new "cap and trade" system to regulate carbon dioxide emissions. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), this legislation would increase federal revenues by $846 billion over the next ten years by, in effect, imposing massive new taxes on energy.

I oppose creating a massive government bureaucracy and imposing new energy taxes on the American people. According to energy policy experts, this cap and trade proposal could cost the average American household anywhere from $1500 to $4500 a year in higher energy bills. It would also impose higher costs on businesses and cause significant damage to American manufacturing, which would threaten jobs and economic growth. This would be devastating to families, especially now when our economy is already experiencing a severe recession..."      Senator Burr
