CCGOP Website Features

The CCGOP website has been in a continuous state of change since the beginning of this year. Most of the capabilities that we will need have been slowly added and refined. Here is a list of the current Menu items with short descriptions:
  • Home - with comments by Chairman Steve Tyson.
  • Elected Officials - Photos, Biographies and contact information of Republicans holding elected offices in Craven County.
  • Executive Board - The CCGOP Officers and Executive Board of Directors with contact information.
  • GOP History - A short brief three page history of the GOP.
  • Local Precincts - A list of Craven County Precincts, with Republican Precinct Chairpersons.

  • Counter - Click on the numbers, and see where the last 100 visitors came from - all over the country.
  • Members Only - A brand new area requiring a User Name and Password for access. Currently, there are several NCGOP training presentations in PowerPoint (.ppt) format. Future plans are for a "Reading Room" and a "Meeting Room" and anything else that we need to be able to communicate between ourselves.
I urge you to do three things to support CCGOP:
1 - The first is to send an email to me - communications@cravencountygop.org requesting a User Name and Password from the email address that you received today announcing this posting, I will send you a User Name and Password for the Members Only pages. If you deleted the email, send me an email anyway, and I will sort it out.
2 - The second is to select five email addresses of your politically conservative friends, then click on the "Recommend this Website to Your Friends" (located on the bottom of all CCGOP website pages). Then enter the names and addresses in the blocks provided, and then click the "Send" button. The names and email addresses will be added our "Public" email list. Currently, our "Public" list has all 178 CCGOP members email addresses.
3 - The third is to contribute to CCGOP. Decide how much you want to contribute, and then whether you want to make a monthly or a one time contribution and then click on the URL below:
On an ongoing basis, we need your opinions and articles for posting on this bulletin board, as well as insider information for the Members Only WebPages.

NC Buzz-- November

The North Carolina Progress Board Report gives us these statistics:

North Carolina:   34th in child poverty
                               40th in median income
                               34th in healthcare coverage
                               16th in highschool dropouts
40th in numbers who do graduate

Perhaps with that in mind, NC teachers recently got a pay raise of $750/year, on top of a 2.24% increase for next year, and 5% over the next three years. The legislature has designated $85 million, but this raise will mean a additional $150 million. Where does it come from?  Governor Easley says this is necessary to bring our teachers' salaries up to the national average. However, the John Locke Society says that NC is already 11th in the nation in salaries, exceeding the national average by $1600/year.They question the value of throwing more money into a failing system. Some say teachers' skills and knowledge are most important, so we need to attract  and retain the best and the brightest. But, is it faulty logic to pay teachers more, regardless of pupil improvement? Perhaps we need to do what the Denver, CO schools are doing, where a portion of teacher pay is based on student achievement.

Citing national security issues, Rep. Sue Myrick of Charlotte introduced legislation last week that would deny NC all its $890 million in federal highway money unless it stops issuing drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. Her bill targets six states that still accept taxpayer ID numbers from the IRS, which are very easy to get, as proof of identity by those seeking licenses.

Our NC prisons are overflowing, but one NC judge stated this week that this problem could easily be fixed by simply legalizing drugs. Think about that.

FYI:  There is a video available which you can see by going to GOP.com. It's called "Democrats: Dishonest on Iraq". It gives pre-war quotes from several influential Democrats, positively showing that they stood with President Bush at that time. Now they are telling a different story. I highly recommend that you take the time to watch it, and share it with friends and family.

Happy Thanksgiving!
