FROM CHAIRMAN SPECIALE
July 27, 2008

Our Grand Opening Party on Wednesday was
a huge success! We had a large turnout and some great speeches from our
Candidates. Our Gubernatorial Candidate, Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, gave
a great presentation and excited the attendees.
The message from the Republican Candidates is a true message of hope
for America and for North Carolina. We, as Republicans, believe in our
Country, and in our State. Democrats continue to believe that America is
the problem; Republicans believe that America is, and always has been, the
solution.
We are the land of the free, and the home of the brave, and the American
Dream is alive and well. Just ask the thousands of immigrants who come to
our shores every year. Ask the millions of illegal aliens who break in to
America every year why they came. They will tell you what the liberals
have forgotten. We are the land of opportunity.
I hope to see all of you at the following functions:
Sept 11, 2008 - A coffee for Norman Sanderson and Jean Preston.
This will be held at Eddella Johnson's home at 10:30 am.
Sept 13, 2008 - A pig-picking for Norman Sanderson, sponsored
by the Republican Men's Club, at Lawson Creek from 2-5 pm. Tickets are
$20.00 and are available from the Republican Men's Club.
Oct 04, 2008 - A 'Musical Fashion Show' at the New Bern Country
Club from 6-9 pm. Tickets are $35.00 and are available by calling the
CCGOP headquarters at 252-637-3536.
For more information, or for tickets to the above events, you may contact the
CCGOP Headquarters by calling 252-637-3536.
'It's about food. It's about your home. It's about your life. The
government is worried about all of the above. You should be worried
they're worried. They're telling you that you can't take care of yourself.
You can't be trusted with what you put in your mouth or what you sign on the
mortgage dotted line. So they'll tell you what to put in your mouth and
they'll save you from what you signed on that dotted line. Does anyone see
a trend here? Personal responsibility has now become government
responsibility.' ---Neil Cavuto'

We
have the choice to sit it out or dance.
Our Nation
and our State are in a freefall toward socialism, and we must stop it before it
is too late.
Democrats
have controlled North Carolina politics since the civil war, and look what they
have wrought. They have put us in a financial crisis, increasing taxes and
spending year after year. In 1971, the State spent $1.2 billion. By 2000, the
State was spending $12.1 billion. Since the current Democrat Governor took
office in 2000, our budget has increased by $10.2 billion dollars. It has
nearly doubled in size in less than eight years.
We cannot
sustain this type of spending. Even taking into account inflation and
population growth, these increases in spending are unacceptable and
unsustainable.
We need a
Conservative Governor, and a Conservative General Assembly. From 1994 through
1998, Republicans controlled the House of Representatives here in North
Carolina. During those four years, the Republicans cut our taxes, increased
spending for education, brought us the Charter School program, and managed to
maintain an emergency fund of between $450 million and $600 million. As soon as
the Democrats took control of the House in 1999, they spent the surplus, they
raised our taxes, they began spending as if there were no tomorrow, and our
State finances have been spiraling out of control ever since.
The
Democrat controlled General Assembly is corrupt, with many Democrat Legislators
in prison now, including the former Speaker of the House for taking bribes.
Republicans have made a difference, and will do so again if we all do our part
to get them elected.
Democrats
have passed incessant legislation eroding our liberties; their policies have put
our school system in shambles, and they give money and incentives to out of
State companies at the expense of our homegrown North Carolina entrepreneurs.
We cannot continue to allow this.
It is time
to get involved; it is time to make a difference.
When the
music starts, we all have the choice to sit it out or dance.
The music
is playing, and it's playing our song.
It is
time for us to Dance!
The Craven County Republican
Party is moving forward. We have Municipal Elections this year, and what
should prove to be a very interesting political year for 2008. For the
first time in over 60 years, no sitting President or Vice-President is running
for election. The Governor's seat is wide open, US Senator Dole and NC
Senator Preston will be running for re-election, along with the opportunity to
take at least one of the local NC House seats.
We have our work cut out for us,
and I, as well as many of you, look forward to the challenges ahead.
The future of North Carolina is
dependent upon all of us to fulfill our duties as citizens and caretakers of the
sword that our founding fathers have entrusted us with. We can lose the
liberties that have been fought for by the blood of our countrymen, and we can
lose it without a sword being lifted against us. We can lose it in the
halls of government, and in the town halls, and in our homes, simply by doing
nothing.
Help us continue the fight for
liberty and freedom, and for those things that have made our country great.
Get involved, lend a hand, stand up for what you believe.
Together, we can take our
country back from those who would destroy it from within. Together, we can
and we will make a difference.
